TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Social Security System (SSS) conducted a simultaneous Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operations in selected establishments around Bulanao to call on non-compliant employers to settle their contribution delinquencies.
The team from SSS service offices in the cities of Tabuk and Tuguegarao visited 12 establishments composed of hardware, general merchandise, pharmacy, restaurant and private school to issue notices to business employers who failed to pay their legal obligation of paying their employees’ share in the contributions depriving them of the social security benefits.
In the fourth RACE activity in the city, the establishments were issued an order to settle the unremitted or delinquent SSS contribution affecting 306 employees with a total delinquency of 3.5M pesos.
After receiving the notice, concerned delinquent employers are given 15 days to coordinate with the SSS Tabuk Office to settle their contribution delinquencies.
Under Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security (SS) Act, employers who fail to register their employees or have not deducted and remitted their contributions will be penalized with a fine of PhP5,000 to PhP20,000 and face imprisonment ranging from six years and one day to 12 years.
The SSS urges all companies to regularly submit their employees’ monthly contributions so that they will be eligible for social security benefits in times of emergency.
Employers are also encouraged to address delinquencies by taking advantage of SSS’s contribution penalty condonation schemes, which allow them to pay unremitted contributions less incurred penalties.
The exercise was attended by the lawyer from the Legal Department of Luzon North 2 Division, led by Atty Arjay Manauis, as well as the head of SSS Tabuk City Service Office and the acting head of the Accounts Management Section of SSS Tuguegarao Branch.
Luzon North 2 Division includes the cities of Cauayan, Santiago, and Ilagan in Isabela, as well as Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, and Tuguegarao City. By Darwin Serion
