BAGUIO CITY – The Social Security System (SSS) embraced digitalization as a giant step towards improving the transaction of the members and pensioners with its various offices established in strategic areas around the country.
SSS vice president for public affairs and special events Fernand Nicholas stated that transactions of the 6 out of the 7 benefits provided by the government-owned and controlled corporation are already digitalized which makes the transaction of members far more convenient compared to the previous years.
He disclosed that members and pensioners must already start maximizing the use of its online platform to be able to conveniently transact business with SSS because the same had been made simple and much easier to perform instead of having to fall in line in the nearest SSS office just to avail of the needed services.
For the posting of contributions, Nicholas explained that SSS reversed the previous manual process where it already provided the list of employees with their corresponding contributions. The company will simply generate the personal reference number of the concerned employees and pay their contributions where the same will be immediately posted that will provide the updated records of the members.
The SSS official added that for loan applications, it is now just 5 clicks away where the loans of employees can be credited on the same day provided that the same will be certified by their employers and submitted on or before 12 noon.
He stipulated that SSS is also working on the improvement of the transactions of voluntary paying members so that the processing of benefits could also be done the soonest possible time after the approval of their applications to avail of the prescribed benefits.
On the other hand, Nicholas said that for retirement claims, the same could be immediately processed and be credited after 3 days which will be much more convenient to the retirees compared to the previous process where it will take some time for the validation of contributions before the retirement benefits of members shall be computed and provided to them.
According to him, SSS has provided the appropriate security measures to prevent the system from being hacked that will cause the available data of members to be compromised and the continuous efforts are being done to secure the system in the light of ongoing threats of data branches.
Nicholas emphasized that SSS also provided for electronic centers in the various offices around the country where members and pensioners who are encountering difficulties in having access to the internet could use for them to be able to transact online with the SSS and avail of their desired benefits.
He urged members and pensioners to register with the SSS online platform form them to be able to easily transact business with the agency and immediately avail of the benefits due to them as the implementation of the digitalization program is part of the overall plan to maximize the potentials of information and communication technology to improve its services and conform with the prevailing trend of the times.
