Dear SSS, pwede po bang pag-usapan ninyo ang SSS Sickness Benefit sa susunod ninyong column? Ano ba ang mga kondisyon para makatanggap ng Sickness Benefit sa SSS at paano ang computation dito? Salamat po! – Brenda San Agustin, Baguio City

Magandang araw sa iyo, Ms. Brenda. Maraming salamat sa iyong pagsubaybay sa ating column.

Ang SSS Sickness Benefit program ay cash allowance na ibinibigay sa mga miyembrong hindi nakapagtrabaho dahil sa pagkakasakit o natamong pinsala sa katawan. Mas pinadali na ang proseso ng Sickness Benefit dahil binuksan na ng SSS ang online application para dito. Lahat ng miyembro ay dapat mayroong sariling My.SSS account.

Bukod sa My.SSS account, kinakailangan na masunod ng mga miyembro ang qualifying conditions para sa benepisyong ito. Una, dapat ay nagkasakit ang miyembro ng apat na araw o higit pa, na-confine man sa ospital o nanatili sa bahay. Pangalawa, dapat ay may hindi bababa sa tatlong buwang kontribusyon sa loob ng 12 buwan bago ang semestre ng pagkakasakit ang miyembro. Pangatlo, kung employed ang miyembro, dapat ay ubos na ang kanyang company sick leaves with pay at pang-apat, nakapag-sumite rin dapat ang employed member ng Sickness Notification sa pamamagitan ng kanyang My.SSS account.

Mahalaga ang Sickness Notification para sa mga employed members dahil dito ibinabase ng employer ang kanyang babayarang benepisyo sa empleyado. Ayon sa batas ng SSS, ia-advance muna ni employer ang benepisyo sa kanyang empleyado saka sila magpapasa ng Sickness Benefit Reimbursement Application sa kanilang My.SSS account. Samantala, dapat ay makapagsumite ang empleyado ng kanyang Sickness Notification sa loob ng limang araw ng kanilang pagkakasakit kundi ay makaka-apekto ito sa compensable days ng empleyado o yung araw na babayaran ng SSS.

Kung Self-employed o Voluntary member, deretcho na sa My.SSS account ang pag-apply ng Sickness Benefit. Ihanda lamang ang mga dokumento na kailangan i-upload tulad ng medical certificate na kita ang pangalan ng doctor, PRC number, clinic address, contact information, diagnosis, at recommended number of days of recuperation.

Magkano naman ang maaring matanggap na benepisyo? Ang halaga ng sickness benefit ay katumbas ng 90% ng Average Daily Salary Credit (ADSC) ng miyembro. Dapat tandaan na ang Monthly Salary Credit o MSC ay isa sa mga batayan sa pag-compute ng Sickness Benefit pati na rin ng lahat ng benepisyo at pribilehiyo sa SSS. Ito kasi ang nagsisilbing compensation base para sa kontribusyon at mga benepisyo na batay sa buwanang kita ng isang SSS member. Simula April 2019, ang maximum MSC ay P20,000 mula sa dating MSC na P16,000.00.

Para mas lubusan niyong maunawaan, tignan natin ang kaso ng isang SSS member na si Jose. Naadmit siya sa ospital ng 20 araw mula April 1 hanggang April 21, 2022. Nagbabayad si Jose ng buwanang kontribusyon na P2,600 kada buwan. Katumbas nito ay P20,000 na Monthly Salary Credit (MSC).

Alamin natin ang semestre ng kanyang pagkakasakit. Ang semestre ay binubuo ng dalawang magkasunod na quarter. Samantala, ang quarter naman ay kinapapalooban ng tatlong magkakasunod na buwan at nagtatapos sa buwan ng Marso, Hunyo, Setyembre at Disyembre. Sa kaso ni Jose, ang kanyang semestre ng pagkakasakit ay mula January 2022 hanggang June 2022, kung saan hindi natin ibibilang ang kanyang mga kontribusyon sa panahong ito.

Magbibilang tayo ng 12 buwan paatras mula sa semestre ng kaniyang pagkakasakit. Ito ay mula January 2021 hanggang December 2021, kung saan nakapaghulog dapat siya ng hindi bababa sa tatlong buwan.

Kung buo ang kanyang hulog sa nakalipas na isang taon, pipiliin natin ang anim na pinakamataas na MSC at susumahin ito upang malaman ang kanyang total MSC. Matapos nito ay kailangang divide naman ito sa 180 araw para malaman ang kanyang Average Daily Monthly Salary Credit (ADSC), na siya namang imu-multiply sa 90% para makuha ang halaga ng kanyang daily sickness allowance. Para makuha ang total sickness benefit ni Jose, kailangang sumahin ang kanyang daily sickness allowance sa bilang ng araw na naaprubahan ng SSS para sa kanyang pagkakasakit.

Kung ang Monthly Salary Credit ni Jose sa loob ng January 2021 hanggang December 2021 ay P16,000. Kukuha lamang tayo ng anim na buwan mula rito, kaya ang kanyang kabuuang MSC ay P120,000 (P20,000 x 6). Lalabas na ang ADSC ay P666.66 (P120,000.00/180). I-multiply ang P666.66 sa 90 porsyento para malaman ang daily sickness allowance. Batay sa ating computation, ang daily sickness allowance ni Jose ay P599.99.

Sabihin natin na ang naaprubahan ng SSS para sa sickness benefit ni Jose ay 20 days. Lalabas na ang kanyang kabuuang Sickness Benefit ay nagkakahalaga ng P11,999.88; o P599.99 kada araw sa loobng 20 days.

Kung mapapansin ninyo, nakadepende ang halaga ng benepisyo sa halaga ng inihuhulog na kontribusyon ng miyembro. Mas mataas ang hulog, asahang mas mataas rin ang matatanggap na benepisyo. Kaya naman pinapayuhan natin ang mga miyembro na siguruhing nababayaran ang kontribusyon kada buwan para maiwasan ang gaps sa inyong records at makasigurong qualified sa short-term na benepisyo kagaya ng sickness.
