LUNA, Apayao – The Local Government Unit of Santa Marcela recently received an award at the Philippine League of Local Environment and Natural Resources Officers (PLLENRO) Inc., the Gawad Galing Kalikasan 2024.
The award was due to the exemplary work of Santa Marcela regarding their Solid Waste Management.
The awarding ceremony took place on August 13, 2024 during the 15th PLLENRO National Convention held in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.
PLLENRO’s Inc. nationwide search for Gawad Galing Kalikasan 2024 is a competition and award-giving program that prestigiously recognize the outstanding initiatives taken by LGUs in safeguarding and preserving the environment.
Benjamin D. Vega, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) designate of Santa Marcela attended and received the said award.
In their Facebook post, Santa Marcela said “our achievement is the result of our successful entry in Gawad Galing Kalikasan 2024 search through the Tarnaw award program. This program showcased Santa Marcela’s innovative and effective approaches to environmental protection and sustainability. The award not only honors our past efforts but also inspires us to continue our journey towards environmental excellence.”
LGU Santa Marcela extended their heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in this remarkable achievement.
“This award is a testament to the collective efforts of our local officials, community members, and environmental advocates who have passionately worked towards creating a greener, cleaner Santa Marcela.
