LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Preparations are in full swing for the 27th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in Pangasinan this October.
Part of the preliminary preparations for the provincial NSM celebration, Governor Amado I. Espino, III issued executive order no. 0095-A-2016 for the reorganization of a provincial task force in-charge for the provincial search for the Most Statistically Developed Local Government Unit (LGU), one of the highlight activities of the provincial NSM revelry.
The highly coveted search, now on its fourth year, recognizes the best practices and innovative strategies of LGUs in utilizing statistics as a tool in local governance.
This year’s NSM celebration banners the theme: “Sustainable Development: Making Statistics Count” (Pangmatagalang Pag-unlad, Estadistika’y may Ambag).
Secondary and tertiary students are invited to participate in the following contests: statistics quiz, essay writing, oration, poster and slogan making and jingle making.
Winners in division level eliminations to be conducted by six schools divisions of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the province namely: Pangasinan 1, Pangasinan II, Alaminos City, San Carlos City, Urdaneta City and Dagupan City will advance in the provincial eliminations.
Provincial eliminations have been set on October 5 for oration at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC); October 11 — poster and slogan making at the PTDC, statistics quiz at the Malong building conference room, jingle making at the Pangasinan Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) conference room and essay writing at the Palaris conference room.
Essay writing contest for provincial Capitol employees is also set on Oct 11.
Provincial winners of various NSM contest will also be selected to represent the province in the regional level.
Other NSM activities include: information dissemination of population statistics and new civil registration laws forum on Oct. 14 at the PTDC; coastal resource education activity by Provincial Agriculture Office on Oct. 19 at the West Central Elementary School in San Fabian; ISTIV Bayanihan and Green Productivity Enhancement Seminar at the CB Mall Urdaneta on Oct. 21; and Recycling / Waste Management Workshop on Oct. 25 to be spearheaded by the Provincial Solid Waste Management team.
The PESO Pangasinan will also conduct a job fair on Oct 26 at PESO compound In Lingayen.
The public is invited to visit the Statistical Exhibit at the National Statistical Information Center inside the Malong building located within the Capitol Complex starting from Oct 3-30. Statistical exhibits will also be held at SM Rosales and CSI Alaminos.
The closing program of the regional NSM celebration is slated on October 27 in BSP – La Union while the provincial level culminating activity is scheduled on the following day, Oct. 28, at the Sison Auditorium.
