BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio Filipino-Chinese community assured a stronger bond between the Filipinos and Chinese in the city with the annual celebration of the Spring Festival or the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Peter Ng, chairman of the Spring Festival executive committee, said that the local government and the city’s Filipino-Chinese community had been strong partners in all aspects of development over the past 27 years that saw a robust exchange of ideas, programs, projects and initiatives that contributed in sustaining the growth of the local economy.
He claims that the city’s Filipino-Chinese community is truly grateful to the city officials for their continuous support and for making the annual Spring Festival a major community activity.
Ng pointed out that the goal of the festival is to promote better understanding and cooperation between the Filipino and Chinese communities in order to strengthen their historical friendship and unity.
“We greatly value relationships and that the celebration of this grand event fosters a stronger bond between the Filipino and Chinese communities,” Ng stressed.
Earlier, the local government and the Baguio Filipino-Chinese community launched the 2025 celebration of the Spring Festival during simple rites held at the City Hall grounds last Monday.
He emphasized that the launching of this year’s Spring Festival highlights the importance of renewing the commitment of the Filipinos and the Chinese to fostering camaraderie and cooperation.
According to him, the assimilation and blending of the two unique cultures through the annual celebration of the Spring Festival will definitely promote peace, unity and prosperity for all of the residents.
“Let us all join hands and bring cheers to the people of Baguio and so, let us welcome the Year of the Wooden Snake with much determination, wisdom and vigor. The celebration is not only for the Chinoy but for the whole community of Baguio,” he added.
