Teaching personnel from Sablan, Tuba and Tublay (STT) brought home the gold for Volleyball Men during the Second Benguet Teachers Day Sportsfest by walloping Benguet State University in the championship match held at the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) Gymnasium last September 23.
The STT Mentors bucked a twice to beat disadvantage in upsetting BSU, who topped the elimination round. The STT team knocked them out with a resounding 2-0 score for both championship games in bagging their win.
La Trinidad garnered third place amongst the ten competing teams.
Meanwhile, La Trinidad ruled the distaff side for volleyball in the teaching personnel category. STT pocketed the silver while Bokod, Kabayan and Itogon placed third.
A Nonteaching personnel (NTP) category was also made and is comprised of school officials, heads and other school staff.
The Higher Education Institution (HEI)bagged the gold for NTP Volleyball Men while the BSU Campus took home the NTP Women’s Volleyball crown. The Schools Division Office team bagged second place in both events while the District 1 team composed of Sablan, Tuba, Itogon, Kabayan, and Bokod finished third for both events.
The Sports Festival was conducted by the Province of Benguet in line with the National Teachers’ Day Celebration. Aside from volleyball, basketball, billiards, table tennis, darts, chess and IPED games like Tug-of-War, 4 by 50 meter Relay, 4 by 25 meter Kadang-Kadang Relay, Salikawkaw, and Bunong Braso were the other sports where the Benguet teachers tested their mettles.
