BUGUIAS, Benguet – A 15-year old student died while two others were injured after their elf truck loaded with vegetables encountered mechanical trouble and turned turtle twice before ramming into a concrete parapet at Lusab, Catlubong, here, Sunday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Razel Talac Butata, 15, student, native of Tocokan, Tinoc, Ifugao while the injured occupants of the vehicle were named as Jerico Butag Butata, 21, married, farmer of Tocokan, Tinoc, Ifugao and Benson Bugtong Liwan, 20, single, farmer.
Initial police investigation showed the vehicle which came from Tinoc, Ifugao to deliver vegetables to the La Trinidad trading post was negotiating a descending portion of the road when it lost its brakes, turned turtle twice and rammed into a concrete parapet that inflicted injuries to the victims.
The fatality died on the spot while his two companions were brought to the Lutheran District Hospital for medical treatment but they were transferred to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for further medical attention.
The remains of the young victim was brought home by his relatives to Tinoc, for him to be given the necessary wake.
