LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 17-year old student died after his motorcycle collided head on with a passenger jeepney along the national road at Km. 6, here, Friday.
Chief Inspector Benson Macliing, chief of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, identified the fatality as Fritz Gerald Evaristo, 17, single, student at Benguet Vocational School (BVS), and resident of Alno, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim’s motorcycle and the passenger jeepney driven by Romeo Baliw-an May-os, 49, married, and a resident of Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet were traversing on opposite directions of the national highway when the motorcycle that was allegedly racing with another motorcycle overtook a taxi and took the jeep’s lane that resulted to the head on collision.
Because of the impact of the collision, the victim hit the wind shield of the jeepney before falling on its left side.
The victim was rushed to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple head and body injuries as a result of the collision.
The jeepney driver was taken into custody by the responding police operatives awaiting the filing of the appropriate charges against him.
