TABUK CITY, Kalinga – In celebration of the 36th National Disaster Resilience Month, themed “Bantayog ng Katatagan at ang Pagbubuklod sa Layuning Kahandaan,” the Search for Best Barangay Responders was successfully held at the Tabuk City Peoples Gymnasium on July 30, 2024.
This event was part of the culmination activities for the National Disaster Resilience Month, led by the Tabuk City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The competition saw the participation of six barangays, each demonstrating their skills in rescue operations, first aid, patient transport, and other essential responder duties.
The goal of the competition was to assess and promote the excellence of barangay responders in their respective communities.
The top three competition winners are Barangay Laya West in 1st Place with 447 points and an average of 89.4%. They received a certificate, a cash prize of PhP7,000, mugs, and half a caravan of rice.
In 2nd Place is Barangay Bulanao garnering 415 points with an average of 83%. They received a certificate, PhP5,000 cash, mugs, and half cavan of rice and Barangay Bulanao Norte bagged 3rd Place garnering 393 points with an average of 78.6%. They likewise received a certificate, PhP3,000 cash prize, half cavan of rice, and mugs.
Barangays Gobgob in 4th Place; Lanna in 5th Place and Cabaritan in 6th Place received certificates, PhP1,000 cash, half a cavan of rice, and mugs each.
The winning barangays were recognized for their dedication and proficiency in disaster response, contributing to the development of more resilient and prepared communities.
These competitions are geared to enhance the knowledge and skills in disaster management of local governments, paving the way for a safer and more prepared nation.
The Tabuk City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office continues to promote programs and activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of each barangay in disaster preparedness and response. By Tabuk PIO
