BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio has issued administrative order no. 29, series of 2018, re-organizing the working committees for Summer Vacation (SumVac) in Baguio 2018.
SumVac in Baguio is an institutionalized annual endeavor undertaken by the city government in partnership with various agencies, non-government organizations, private sector and people’s organizations to conduct activities during the summer season, particularly March to May, in order to provide varied attractions for residents and tourists, alike.
Traditional activities include the Philippine Military Academy graduation rites, Holy Week commemoration, Araw ng Kagitingan, Aliwan Festival, Baguio Liberation Day, Labor Day, Sabsabong ti Mayo, and many more.
The measure creates a SumVac 2018 executive committee headed by the Mayor as chairman and Rep. Mark Go as honorary chair with Vice Mayor Edison Bilog as vice-chair. Actions officers are councilor Elmer Datuin and city administrator Carlos Canilao.
It also creates working committees with chairpersons and members to handle various activities, to wit: Araw ng Kagitingan, Liberation of Baguio and Kafagway, chaired by councilor Peter Fianza; Summer Arts Expo, Cultural and Baguio Musical Festival, Summer tourism and sports programs chaired by councilor Datuin including the Creative Cities Baguio summer program.
The Summer Health and Environment programs are chaired by city health officer Rowena Galpo; Jobs Fair and Labor Day Activities, chaired by executive assistant V George Fortea; communications groups, peace, security and traffic assistance chaired by city administrator Canilao; media relations and search for lucky summer visitors, chaired by PIA Dir. Helen Tibaldo;
Church and Holy Week activities chaired by personnel officer Augustin Laban III; barangay fiestas chaired by councilor Michael Lawana; streamer road signs’ maintenance chaired by CBAO chief Nazita Banez ; physical arrangements and logistics chaired by GSO head Eugene Buyucan. Secretariat is the office for administration.
