The city government of Tabuk, in partnership with the provincial government, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Army (PA) and the barangays spearheaded the Oplan Linis Canal.
The activity is in line with the celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month with the theme: “Tamang Pamamahala’t Kahandaan, Kaalaman at Pagtutulungan sa Sakuna at Pandemya’y Kalasag ng Bayan.”
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) commissioned Oplan Linis Canal which is now being implemented by the city as part of the city’s disaster resiliency aimed at mitigating and/or controlling flooding and prevent the spread of water-borne diseases, malaria and dengue.
The Oplan Linis Canal will include all 43 barangays of Tabuk and will end on Friday July 30, 2021 with all partner agencies joining the city government contingent, headed by Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero and representatives from the different departments, in cleaning the canals in designated areas of Barangay Bulanao.
Participation of Barangay local government units in the activity will be considered their accomplishments for the National Disaster Resilience Month.
