TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Mayor Darwin Estrañero, Rizal Mayor Karl Baac, and Pasil Mayor Alfred Malannag Jr., all received the renowned Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in a ceremony held at the Manila Hotel recently.
This is the city’s second SGLG and the first to take place under the leadership of Mayor Estrañero.
The SGLG is the highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to local government units (LGUs).
“This recognition shows that we have effectively handled our budget, met all requirements for good governance, and provided all the programs and services that our residents require,” Mayor Estrañero said in a message.
“Going forward, we will continue to uphold responsibility in our local government and advocate proactive initiatives to provide for our residents’ needs and to address challenges that we might face,” the Mayor added.
“With the assistance of all local government offices, we will continue our commitment to consistently develop and improve our performance,” he further stated.
With this recognition, the city is qualified to receive financial assistance from the Performance Challenge Fund to support its development initiatives.
The awarding ceremony was also attended by DILG-Kalinga Provincial Director Anthony Manolo I. Ballug and his staff and some employees of Rizal and Pasil municipal government.
