TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Five athletes from the city will be awarded cash incentives tonight by the city government for their medal-winning performances in recent competitions.
The three athletes who won gold and will each receive ₱15,000 are JemuelAggalao in the 5000-meter run (secondary boys), Mark Lister Taloza in the long jump (secondary boys), and Romelyn Mangawit in the long jump (elementary girls).
Sharapova Tuppiyac won silver in elementary-level chess (blitz), and Jerry Xavier Angngad earned a bronze medal in the long jump (secondary boys).
The cash incentives are part of the city government’s initiative, under Mayor Darwin Estrañero, to motivate local athletes which awards ₱15,000 for gold medalists, ₱,000 for silver, and ₱5,000 for bronze.
Earlier today, the Tabuk City Secondary Boys’ Sepak Takraw team defeated Apayao while the Secondary Boys’ Basketball team defeated Kalinga Province in their first game of the day. By JDM
