TABUK CITY, Kalinga – With the theme “Ti Agtultuloy a Panagdur-as ti Tabuk City, Ada ti Ima Dagiti Umili,” this city is set to hold the 16th Matagoan Festival and 10th Founding Anniversary from June 21 to 24 this year.
In a recent committee meeting, event organizers proposed that the events during the “Thanksgiving and Opening Day” on the 21st of June would start with the Ayag or the Matagoan Festival call with the Tabuk Bikers leading the event. The bikers will traverse two bike loops from East to Western Tabuk and North t o Eastern Gateway to announce the affair.
Proposed as highlights of the day is the grand ceremonial opening, Elementary Drum and Lyre Exposition and the Search for Ms. Tabuk 2017 in the evening.
Dubbed as “WOW Tabuk Day,” the June 22 events will feature the Wealth and Wonders of the city. The day will open with the WOW Parade of decorated karatela, local cowboys, floats and the agri-vet and tourism associations along with the city cooperatives. In the afternoon will be the WOW Tabuk Agri- Olympics and Indigenous Games. Evening will be a Republika ng TM sponsored concert.
The Matagoan Run is proposed to open the Cultural Day on the 23rd of June followed by the Matagoan Street Dance featuring the different barangay festivals with their own floats showcasing the barangay’s best products.
Sister local government units will be celebrating with the city for the Dornat or the re-warming of ties in the afternoon. Another highlight for the day is the Natagoan Di Tago Cultural Production of the various colleges in the city to present the peoples’ traditions, customs and practices through a stage presentation, then the Barangay Officials will be celebration a fellowship night in the evening with the sister municipalities.
Proposed activities for the City Foundation Day on the 24th will be the Tabuk Thematic Parade featuring the a street dancing in various creative attires. The Foundation Day will be followed by the High School Enhanced Drum and Lyre Competition centered on the theme ‘Peace and Prosperity.’
This year’s theme hopes to promote the agri-tourism of the city, it’s potentials and the culture and traditions of the people.
