TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) members have approved the ordinance granting pension to indigent persons with disabilities (PWDs) for its third and final reading.
During their regular session today, October 18, 2022, the council members approved the ordinance entitled “Social Pension for Indigent Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), which will grant qualifying recipients in the city a monthly pension of 500 pesos.
Authored by Councilor Lucretina S. Sarol, with co-authors, Councilors Ivan Yannick Bagayao, Atty. Kristian Wandag, and Hon. Eduardo Sacayle, the ordinance prioritized and recognized the needs of the indigent PWDs for monthly stipend to support their well-being and self-sufficiency, as well as augment their capacity to meet their daily sustenance and medical requirements, among others.
The coverage will include indigent PWDs of the city as verified and certified by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office.
The ordinance also stipulates strict rules for enrolling ineligible beneficiaries, stating that delisting would be imposed, as well as penalties for CSWDO officers who enroll ineligible beneficiaries.
The ordinance is moved to its 3rd and final reading, and will be subjected for approval prior to its implementation. By Ruth Cupang
