Meanwhile, employees of the CSWDO, assisted by the barangays officials ensured that health and safety protocols were strictly observed until the end of the activity.
Earlier, the CSWDO announced that social pension distribution will be released in the barangays as one way to protect the senior citizens from Covid-19 virus being one of the most vulnerable sectors during this pandemic.
The distribution of cash assistance will continue on May 25-26 in 14 barangays of District 2 to cover 344 more beneficiaries.
In his previous statement, City Mayor Darwin Estrañero assured that the LGU-sponsored indigent senior citizens get regular assistance by allocating enough fund for the social pension program of the CSWDO.
Social Pension is an additional government assistance in the amount of P500.00 monthly stipend to augment the daily subsistence and other medical needs of indigent senior citizens who are frail, sickly or with disability, and without pension and permanent source of income, compensation or financial assistance from relatives to support their basic needs.
