TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Tabuk City Demolition Task Force successfully cleared an illegally constructed structure in Barangay Calanan in accordance with the Presidential Directive to reclaim public roads. The demolition was carried out smoothly with no untoward incidents reported.
Atty. Arthur Kub-ao, head of the Task Force, attributed the peaceful operation to continuous coordination and communication with the affected individuals prior to the demolition. This proactive approach ensured that property owners were well-informed and aware of the legal basis for the clearing operation.
During the demolition, several property owners were present to monitor the proceedings. Jack Gamatero from the Tabuk City DILG Field Office was on hand to explain to them that the operation was in line with Memorandum Circular 2024-053, issued on April 16, 2024. This circular reiterates the “Nationwide Implementation of Barangay Road Clearing Operations, Assessment, Validation, and Recognition under the Bagong Pilipinas Program.”
The successful clearing operation demonstrates the Task Force’s commitment to reclaiming public spaces and ensuring compliance with national directives. The Task Force reiterated that they will continue to enforce these regulations to promote public safety and order within Tabuk City.
The DILG emphasized the importance of continuous implementation of road clearing operations by local government units as stipulated in DILG Memorandum Circular 2024-053, MC No. 2023-017, and MC No. 2020-085. These directives mandate LGUs to conduct regular clearing operations, reclaim public roads used for private purposes, and submit monthly Barangay Road Clearing Operations (BaRCO) reports to the DILG Tabuk City Field Office.
The Task Force called on all Punong Barangays to adhere to these directives and to cooperate in ensuring the success of the Bagong Pilipinas Program within their respective jurisdictions. By Jesse Maguiya
