TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Building and Architecture Office (CBAO), sponsor of the regular flag raising ceremony on August 12, announced that a total of PhP2,630,121.46 was generated from all the permits issued from January to June this year.
The 144 building permits that were issued generated the highest collection amounting to PhP1,202,041.85, followed by 49 occupancy permits amounting to PhP453,554.00. Other permits issued were excavation, electrical, mechanical, demolition, and annual inspection permits.
The importance of obtaining a building permit was emphasized by Berlyn Kashmir Ganotice who said that obtaining one guarantees adherence to the National Building Code of the Philippines (PD 1096) and its implementation guidelines.
Compliance is also crucial because it essentially addresses the structure’s safety and structural integrity, protecting building users and occupants.
During CBAO’s inspections, they ensure that the construction plans meet safety standards such as those related to fire protection, emergency exits, and structural resilience. She added that it helps prevent accidents and injuries that could arise from poorly constructed or unsafe buildings.
In addition, the permit process involves a thorough review of the building’s design and engineering plans to ensure that the structure will be stable and durable and prevents buildings from experiencing significant damage or collapse.
The CBAO has urged anyone planning to construct a residential or commercial building to obtain the required permits to ensure the project meets safety standards, structure reliability, and adheres to all regulations that will safeguard both investment and occupants safety.
The CBAO also informed the public that they can apply through their online system for simple transactions, and they can visit their office for further queries. By Ian Addatu
