LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Eight individuals and two groups from Tabuk City who won medals on the first day of the CARAA 2025 received cash incentives immediately following dinner at their camp inside BSU-Laboratory Elementary School.
The awarding ceremony was led by Tabuk City CARAA 2025 Delegation Officials, including Dr. Benedicta Gamatero, City Legal Officer Arthur Kub-ao, City Special Concerns and Coordinating Office Head Glen Wansi, and CHRMO Head Jephte Feken.
Athletes receiving ₱15,000 each for their gold medal wins included Mark Lister Taloza (Secondary Long Jump Boys), Jemuel Aggalao (5000-meter run, Secondary Boys), Romelyn Mangawit (Elementary Long Jump), and Ahiezer Ancheta (Elementary Discus Throw). Individual athletes who received ₱10,000 each were Chrislyn Sabaway (400-meter run, Elementary Girls), and Myrah Jchaine Guloy (Long Jump, Secondary Girls). The teams of Zyrus Aranda, Dave Sincere Ngay, Daniel Galamto, and Roy Christian Bargas (swimming 4×50 Relay, Secondary Boys); Aliah Palason, Janine Luis, and Agnaya Dawaton (swimming 4×50 Relay, Elementary Girls); and Sharapuva Tuppiyac (Chess, Blitz) also received ₱10,000 each. Gerry Xavier Angngad, who won bronze in the Elementary Long Jump Boys, received ₱5,000.
During the awarding, Feken presented City Ordinance No. 007, Series of 2025, or “An Ordinance Granting Cash Incentive to Athletes who won medals in the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet and Palarong Pambansa Sports Competition.” Authored by Councilors Eduardo Sacayle and Ivan Yannick Bagayao and approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the ordinance outlines the following incentives:
For the CARAA Meet: Individual gold medalists receive ₱15,000, silver medalists receive ₱10,000, and bronze medalists receive ₱5,000. For groups with 10 or more players, gold medalists receive ₱30,000, silver medalists receive ₱20,000, and bronze medalists receive ₱10,000. For groups with less than 10 players, gold medalists receive ₱20,000, silver medalists receive ₱15,000, and bronze medalists receive ₱10,000.
For the Palarong Pambansa: Individual gold medalists receive ₱20,000, silver medalists receive ₱15,000, and bronze medalists receive ₱10,000. For groups with 10 or more players, gold medalists receive ₱35,000, silver medalists receive ₱25,000, and bronze medalists receive ₱15,000. For groups with less than 10 players, gold medalists receive ₱25,000, silver medalists receive ₱20,000, and bronze medalists receive ₱15,000.
City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Gamatero and Wansi encouraged and advised the remaining athletes to do their best in the upcoming events, stating that the week-long regional sports competition had just begun. By Jesse Maguiya
