The City Local Government of Tabuk, headed by City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, led the inauguration Ceremony and Blessing of the Barangay Hall in Dupag on April 7, 2025.
With the outfitted hall, City Local Government Operations Officer Helen Lacuesta expressed her hope that it will improve the performance of barangay officials and personnel in providing basic services. “Mamati nak nga mas karkaru kayo nga gumaget ta amin nga support ket ipa-pa-ay amin ti City Government,” according to her.
Lacuesta also hoped that the infrastructure support would push them to excel in good governance and implementation compliance. “Daytuy ket challenge kanyayu. Maysan tu met ti barangay yu nga awardee iti implementation compliance,” she added.
Brgy Chairman Marco Pagtud led a traditional Kalinga rite known as ‘domdomog’ at the event. The ritual consists of playing the gong while the dancers move around the building, reportedly to fend off evil spirits.
In his message, Mayor Estrañero emphasized his administration’s commitment to providing infrastructure support to all 43 barangays of Tabuk. He highlighted recent projects, including a potable water supply system in Bullaguiyan, implemented through the Barangay Development Program, a flagship project of the NTF-ELCAC.
Other ongoing projects in the barangay include a hanging bridge in Sitio Minanga, a DSWD PAMANA project; and road concreting in Bullaguiyan Elementary School.
The mayor also committed his support for the concreting of Sitio Bullaguiyan Upper Road. He said that these projects are manifestations of the continuous development of the city.
Sangguniang Panlungsod Members Samuel Suma-al, Engr. Marc Ranier Duguiang, Eduardo Sacayle, Juan Thomas Duyan, and Atty. Ivan Yannick Bagayao were also present to deliver their messages of support. By Rio Bassong
