TABUK CITY, Kalinga – City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, on the occasion of the 126th Independence Day celebration, called for unity as he lauded the feat of the country’s heroes, saying that in the spirit of thanksgiving and solidarity, it is the time to come together to give recognition to the legacy of both past and present-day heroes.
“Our independence is the most significant legacy which we now enjoy today and for the generations to come as well,” he said.
Estrañero said that each Filipino has the responsibility to perform acts of patriotism to manifest the preservation and protection of sovereign rights and freedom, independence, and territorial integrity of the country.
Freedom, he said, is not just a gift from the past but a foundation that serves as the pillar toward the nation’s development and progress.
“As we commemorate our Independence Day, we are not only celebrating the proclamation of our nation’s freedom but also the resilience and determination of Tabuk City and the Province of Kalinga,” he underscored.
Tabuk City he cites, also had its struggles, but the city still embodies the spirit of hard work and sustainable development.
He then commended the people not only of Tabuk, but the province as a whole, for still preserving their customs and cultural heritage despite foreign influences.
Through trials and challenges, Tabuk City nurtured and shaped its communities, to what they are today.
“Just as our heroes fought for liberty, Tabuk City continues to assert its rights and forge a prosperous future. Through our unity, Tabuk City will achieve its vision of becoming a first-class city in the Philippines,” he said
Said event is also graced by leaders from the provincial government, the city government, the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, veterans, national line agencies, the Knights of Columbus, Free Masons, the Order of the Amaranth, among others.
