SAGADA, Mountain Province – On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, officials of Tabuk City and the municipality of Sagada inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) formalizing the sisterhood of the two local government units (LGUs). “The municipality of Sagada and the city of Tabuk have long recognized each other as “sisters” with their shared values, cultural heritage, and mutual interests,” the MOU stated.
On Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, Tabuk City officials attended the 11th Sagada Etag Festival to show support to its newly formalized sister municipality.
Tabuk City Acting Mayor Dick Bal-o led the delegation of Tabuk to the formalization meeting and to the 11th Etag Festival. The Dupag Cultural Dance Troupe also performed during the festival’s opening.
Bal-o, in his message, emphasized the potential for collaboration between the City of Tabuk and Sagada, seeing support in areas such as maintaining peace and order, fostering economic opportunities, and extending assistance during disasters.
“Nagadu dagiti banag nga mabalin tayo nga agsinuporta [kas iti] peace and order ta ammu tayu met nga nu nagkabsat ti maysa nga ili, mabalin nga agkakainawatan tayu… Nagadu ti mabalin tayu nga pagsisinnaranayan iti livelihood ken employment, ken uray iti disaster,” Bal-o said.
Bal-o also expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Sagada, headed by Mayor Felicito Dula, for initiating the formalization and documentation of Tabuk City and Sagada sisterhood.
“We acknowledge the initiative of the leadership of Sagada headed by our brother, Honorable Mayor Felicito Dula, for initiating this formalization and documentation daytoy nagkabsatan tayo, sunga edwani mabalin tako ibaga ay sin-agi taku wennu sinbebsat taku,“ Bal-o stated.
Dula officially announced on Thursday the sisterhood relationship between Sagada and Tabuk, which seeks to promote collaboration, friendship, and partnership between the two local government units.
“Nalpasen kakailyan ay i-Sagada ta nan inkabsatan nan Sagada ya san Tabuk City,” Dula announced.
Delegations from Tabuk City include councilors Samuel Suma-al, Abraham Licaycay, Tabuk City ABC President Alejandro Cos-agon, Acting Councilor Errol Comafay, City Public Information Officer Aurora Amilig, City Legal Officer Arthur Gamongan Kub-ao, City Cooperatives and Enterprises Development Officer Katherine Nuera, and other officials together with the Brgy.
