TABUK CITY, Kalinga – As part of the ongoing communication research of the City Public Information Office (CPIO) entitled “Road safety starts with you: Comprehensive Road Safety Education”, acquired data on who is most commonly engaged in traffic accidents.
Data from the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS) from 2022-2024 shows that males are mostly involved in road accidents.
In 2024 alone, 18 vehicular traffic accidents were recorded by the TCPS, 16 of these incidents resulted in the loss of lives of 16 male individuals. On VTA due to self-accident, 15 incidents were recorded by the TCPS in the same year. Of this figure, 15 were males.
The 2022 and 2023 VTA data were also marked by high involvement of male individuals as compared to their female counterparts.
The report obtained by the Tabuk City Information Office (CPIO) also indicated 38 occurrences of VTAs in 2024 that resulted in damage of property involving 35 males and 3 females.
The TCPS data on VTA last year that resulted in death, self-accident, and damage to property clearly shows that males outnumbered females in terms of who is most at risk of falling victim to road crashes.
According to TCPS, the main cause of road crashes is human error. Human error is linked to drunk driving, bad turning, inattentive driving, fast driving, falling asleep while driving, hitting an animal, too close to another vehicle, fatigue, and bad road conditions.
As earlier stated, the TCPS reminds motorists to follow road safety rules to avoid accidents and maintain focus while driving.
CPIO’s communication research on VTA aims to promote overall road safety, focusing on traffic laws, obeying speed limits, and sharing road responsibility. By Darwin Serion
