TABUK CITY, Kalinga – During the third quarter joint meeting of the City Anti Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), City Peace and Order Council (CPOC), and City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (CTF-ELCAC), PMaj Lendle Lev Langkit of the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS) provided an update on the city’s crime situation from May 13 to August 14, 2024.
According to Langkit, there were 15 crimes committed during the specified time frame. Majority of the two most common offenses, rape and robbery, occurred in Brgy. Bulanao.
On data on road crashes, Langkit reports 26 vehicular traffic accidents on same period, which resulted to injury, damage to property and a fatality.
Nine drug personalities and ten people on the wanted list have been apprehended as a result of the TCPS’s anti-illegal drug campaign. Shabu and marijuana were both outlawed while these operations were underway.
The total amount on the city traffic ordinance that resulted in the arrest of violators was P3,475,625.00.
The most commonly reported infractions are driving without a helmet, not having a driver’s license, not carrying a driver’s license, not carrying an OR/CR, and driving in slippers.
Also during the meeting, Langkit disclosed that of the 941 drug surrenderees, 558 graduated from the community-based drug rehabilitation program and 338 did not. Of these 338, one went abroad, 103 arrested, 25 missing, 10 transferred residence, 18 died and 3 double entry.
With the onset of crimes and offenses in the city, the TCPS recommends the upgrading of the existing CCTVs and stricter implementation of the city ordinance (traffic code) in the hopes of reducing the statistics.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero supports these recommendations saying the city government has alloted fund for the purchase of additional CCTVs to be placed in areas with high possibility of accidents and offenses. By Darwin S. Serion
