TABUK CITY, Kalinga – As part of the ongoing communication research of the City Public Information Office (CPIO) entitled “Road safety starts with you: Comprehensive Road Safety Education”, the Tabuk City Police Station (TCPS) reveals that minor drivers aged 14-17 are involved in road crashes.
Data from the 2024 vehicular traffic accidents (VTA) cases released by the TCPS shows 47 incidents that resulted to damage property. Of this number, four were minors age 15-17 years old and 43 were adults under the age bracket 20-66 years.
The report also shows four minor drivers aged 14-16 years and 14 adult drivers aged 19-82 years who lost their lives in 2024 due to highway crashes.
On VTA resulting in self-accident, there were 15 cases logged in 2024, harming one 15-year-old child and 15 adult individuals aged 21-72 years.
The TCPS data on VTA last year that resulted in death, self-accident, and damage to property clearly shows that minors too, have already been engaged in traffic collisions.
With the rising incidents of road accidents in the city’s major thoroughfares, motorists are reminded to follow road safety rules to avoid accidents and maintain focus while driving.
CPIO’s communication research on VTA aims to promote overall road safety, focusing on obeying traffic laws, speed limits, and sharing road responsibility. By Darwin Serion
