LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The city government, under the leadership of Mayor Darwin Estrañero, once again received a “Gawad Parangal” Regional Recognition on October 24 during the celebration of the CAR Cooperative Month at Benguet Sports Complex, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The recognition was presented by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Cordillera to the city government for fostering an enabling environment for the growth and development of cooperatives.
CDA Cordillera OIC Regional Director Felicidad Cenon handed the recognition to the city government represented by the City Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office Head Catherine Lee Uera and Tabuk City Cooperative Development Council Chairman and TAMPCO Chief Executive Officer Claudio Bagano.
Additionally, Uera together with DZRK Radyo Pilipinas 837 KHz, represented by Laurenz Roaquin, received the same recognition from the CDA-CAR.
The recipients are also nominated for the National Gawad Parangal Awards this year.
During the awarding, the CDA Cordillera has also recognized the cooperatives in Kalinga, mostly based in Tabuk City, confirming their enhanced performance for the year 2023.
The following coops that advanced to small category cooperatives from micro category cooperatives are Dakaran Credit Cooperative, Guilayon Ancestral Domain Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative, Mabaca Balbalan Marketing Cooperative, Inter-tribal Agricultural Cooperative, and Rang-ay Agriculture Cooperative.
The small cooperatives that advanced to medium cooperatives are Binongsay Malin-awa Savings and Loan Cooperative and Matagoan Multi-purpose Cooperative.
Following the awarding, TAMPCO CEO Claudio Bagano and other selected coop leaders also shared their best practices with all the attendees during the event.
As part of the cooperative unity, the Kalinga delegates performed cultural dances showcasing the rich culture of the province.
The activity is attended by more than 600 officers and employees from various cooperatives in the Cordillera Region during the two-day event from October 23-24 with the team “Cooperatives: Stronger Together Today for a Brighter Tomorrow.” By Ian Jefrey Addatu
