TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Tabuk City Local Government Unit (LGU) underwent regional assessment recently for the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) after successfully hurdling the provincial assessment last March.
Conducting the validation was the sub-regional assessment team composed of validators from the Department of Interior Local Government (DILG)-Kalinga led by Provincial Director Anthony Manolo Ballug.
Mayor Darwin Estrañero and the department heads of the different offices attended the assessment which was done through interviews and document review as well as site inspections.
Tabuk City is vying for its third SGLG after winning it in 2022 and in 2016.
This year, the SGLG program is carrying on with the “All-in” assessment approach where LGUs must pass all ten (10) governance areas to win the award: 1. Financial Administration and Sustainability; 2. Disaster Preparedness; 3. Social Protection and Sensitivity; 4. Health Compliance and Responsiveness; 5. Sustainable Education; 6. BusinessFriendliness and Competitiveness; 7. Safety, Peace and Order; 8. Environmental Management; 9. Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and 10. Youth Development.
The SGLG is the highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to excellent and performing LGUs in the delivery of public service through compliance to pertinent national laws and guidelines. It is institutionalized through Republic Act No. 11292 or The Seal of Good Local Governance Act of 2019.
