TADIAN, Mountain Province – The municipal government is now currently conducting the needed training and orientation of tourist guides on the culture, heritage, history and tourist destinations in the municipality to ensure the town’s readiness to cater to the projected influx of foreign and domestic visitors wanting to explore emerging spots.
Municipal Civil Registrar and concurrent head of the Municipal Tourism Unit William Apyoten said that the local government wants to make sure that tourist guides are fully aware of the tourist destinations, culture, heritage and history of the municipality so that they can effectively and efficiently discharge their assigned duties and responsibilities when servicing visitors.
Further, he added that an inventory is also being done to document the existing and emerging tourist destinations to make it easier for the tourist guides to perform their job and to provide guidance for the must see-places in the municipality.
Apyoten pointed out that the municipal government also supports the promotion of farm tourism which is suitable in the municipality being an agriculture-producing locality to provide tourists with various kinds of experiences while visiting the already-established and newly-discovered agri-tourism destinations.
At present, Tadian hosts the famous Layog Farm, one of the famous farm destinations not only in the municipality but also in the whole Cordillera region.
Apyoten is currently serving as the concurrent head of the Municipal Tourist Unit while awaiting the newly appointed municipal tourism officer to complete the necessary orientation and trainings prior to turning over the duties and responsibilities of the said office to the said officer who was recently appointed to the position by Mayor Constito Masweng.
The Cordillera has been identified by the tourism department as one of the major eco-tourism destinations in the country with the presence of well-preserved nature destinations in the different provinces.
For his part, Masweng pointed out the need to aggressively promote the municipality as one of the major agri-tourism destinations not only in the province but also in the region with presence of well-known farm destinations aside from emerging similar agri-tourism areas worthy of visiting that will surely contribute in generating employment opportunities and additional economic activities and sources of livelihood for the people.
He emphasized that the municipal government fully supports the growth and development of the town’s tourism industry thus the appointment of a municipal tourism officer that will oversee the implementation of tourism-related programs and projects to allow the municipality to be included in the preferred destinations of foreign and domestic tourists.
