TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Tabuk City Task Force Demolition conducted a face-to-face meeting with affected business owners from Barangay Agbannawag regarding the scheduled demolition in February.
During the meeting, A couple from Agbannawag, whose business is slated for demolition on February 26, 2025 engaged in a dialogue with the task force concerning their structure set for demolition on February 26, 2025. The discussion, led by Attorney Arthur Kub-ao, addressed the couple’s violations, including encroachment on the road right-of-way (RROW) and non-compliance with prescribed structural guidelines for buildings within the proposed market area in Barangay Agbannawag.
Following the deliberation, the couple agreed to voluntarily remove the second floor of their structure, which violates the market area’s structural regulations. They also committed to demolishing their structure built along the RROW and signed an undertaking—to be renewed yearly ensuring they will not construct any illegal structures, extensions, or additional buildings until the City Local Government of Tabuk finalizes the official design of the proposed public market.
Additionally, the task force directed the couple to coordinate with Kalinga Electric Cooperative (KAELCO) to settle their violation for illegally installing electricity.
“Saan a mabalin mapatgan ti kiddaw yu nga maipalubos dagita nga illegal structures kasi nu saan tayu nga ikkaten ket isun tu ti agbalin nga rason dagijay daduma nga indibidwal nga apektado ti demolition a maisayangkat intun bulan ti Pebrero,” Attorney Kub-ao firmly stated.
Aside from this case, the task force tackled the issue of illegal structures proliferating in Barangay Calanan. A complaint letter received by the task force reported several structures illegally erected along the RROW, which were confirmed during an ocular inspection and validated by Barangay Captain Cristito Lumbican, who was present at the meeting.
In response, the task force scheduled the demolition of these illegal structures on Friday, January 31, 2025.
Furthermore, the demolition task force issued a stern warning to all business owners and residents, urging them to refrain from encroaching on government properties. The task force emphasized that unauthorized constructions would face legal consequences and immediate removal.
This move is part of the local government’s ongoing efforts to enforce city regulations, ensure public safety, and maintain proper urban planning within Tabuk City. By Jesse Maguiya
