BAGUIO CITY January 20 – A 39-year old taxi driver was injured after he was shot on his right calf by a still unidentified armed suspect during an altercation in front of a store at Slaughterhouse Compound, here, Thursday.
Police authorities identified the victim as Rene Fermin Sab-it, 39, married, taxi driver, and a resident of Samoyao, Itogon, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victim’s vehicle allegedly hit a parked taxi while traversing Magsaysay Avenue that resulted to a heated altercation between him and the driver of the still unidentified vehicle.
After a few moments, the suspect then went inside his car, pulled out his firearm and fired at the victim who was seated on a chair in front of a store in the place of incident that hit hem on his right calf.
The suspect hurriedly left the crime scene on board his still unidentified car while the suspect was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene a spent shell of a calibre .9mm pistol which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
