LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Governor Amado ‘Pogi’ I. Espino, III led the send-off ceremony of Team Pangasinan for their participation to the Batang Pinoy national finals scheduled on November 27 – December 2 in Davao del Norte and Tagum City.
Governor Espino, during the send-off program held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center on November 21, expressed confidence on the strong showing of Team Pangasinan in the Batang Pinoy games, as he urged about 75 athletes who will vie for dominance in various categories of 13 sporting events “to give their best shots as representatives of the province.”
Associating sports to life, Governor Espino stressed three vital things that the athletes, coaches and delegation officials must always bear in mind during the Batang Pinoy national finals.
“Always think of pride, honor and respect as representatives of the province of Pangasinan,” said Governor Espino.
Also present during the send-off program were Team Pangasinan delegation officials led by Sports Director Modesto Operania.
Conceptualized and formed by former Pangasinan Governor and now 5th District Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr., Team Pangasinan is the official delegation of the province of Pangasinan in Batang Pinoy, a grassroots development program of the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philppine Olympic Committee for the youth.
Since 2011, Team Pangasinan has maintained a solid performance in Batang Pinoy games, landing in over-all top three spots in the luzonwide leg and in the top 10 ranking in the national games.
Out of the 26 sporting events of the 2016 Batang Pinoy national games, Team Pangasinan will field contenders in the following sporting events: arnis, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, karatedo, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, basketball 3X3 and wrestling.
