LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao office of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) joined the nationwide simultaneous celebration of the agency’s 29th anniversary today, August 25, 2023 at the Provincial Capitol compound in San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao.
The activity featured the launching of the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) where government agencies, private companies, technical-vocational institutions (TVIs) and financing institutions converged to exhibit their products and services, offer employment, training, competency assessment and financial assistance to alumni of Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.
Among those who went to celebrate with TESDA include TVET programs as well as representatives from various key TESDA stakeholders – Philippine Statistics Authority Apayao, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, National Commission of Indigenous People, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, LandBank of the Philippines-Luna Branch and other financial institutions in the province.
TESDA Regional Liaison Officer and former Provincial Director Engr. Artemio L. Jose Jr., explained that the WCO through the Job Linkaging and Networking Services (JoLiNS) of TESDA was institutionalized through TESDA Circular No. 38 series of 2016.
Incumbent TESDA Provincial Director Engr. Glenn N. Murphy for his part pledged that the launching of the WCO is just a start of TESDA’s commitment in linking more graduates into the workplace.
The Office of the Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang, represented by Marinel J. Ginez, and the Provincial Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr.’s Office, represented by Verlie Mae Baldovino, both pledged to support TESDA’s initiative in providing relevant skills training and more employment opportunities for the yApayaos.
The program culminated with the awarding of Idol ng TESDA-Provincial Winner, and distribution of Starter Toolkits to TESDA scholars. By Jomela Dela Torre
