LUNA, Apayao – Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA) – Apayao continues to provide face masks and baked goods to the different frontliners deployed around the province.
“The TESDA Apayao Provincial Office and Provincial Training Center, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Apayao, already produced a total of 1,279 baked goods, 1,634 pieces of face masks, and 145 head caps. The latest distribution to the frontliners was done on April 24, 2020,” said APD Roger Dancel.
He said that 249 pieces of face masks and 72 head caps were given to health workers on duty at Sta. Marcela District Hospital and Flora District Hospital, and to frontliners manning the ECQ checkpoints in Flora, Sta. Marcela and Luna on that day.
Recently, the Office produced 544 pieces of baked goods which were distributed to the Municipalities of Pudtol, Conner and Kabugao through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
“Part of the baked goods were also turned over to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on April 15, 2020, for distribution to the other frontliners manning the different checkpoints and health workers at Barangays Dona Loreta, Mataguisi, Aga, Lt. Balag, Malibang, Upper Maton, and Aurora in Pudtol,” he said.
APD Dancel said that they are encouraging more dressmaking graduates to help produce face masks not only for frontliners but also for other residents of the province.
On March 16, TESDA Director General, Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña, issued a memorandum encouraging TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) with registered program in Dressmaking NC II to produce and distribute face masks.
“This is the response of the TESDA to reported shortage of face masks and to reports that available face masks are being sold at exorbitant prices,” he said.
Likewise, the TESDA and all regional/provincial offices and its network of TTIs have joined efforts to reduce contagion and assist frontliners and beneficiaries under the Bayanihan Heal as One Act.
