The ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) aims to recognize the outstanding ASEAN enterprises in the region. It brings to spotlight businesses that have contributed in the growth and prosperity of the ASEAN economy and have the potential to become global economic players in their respective industries.
ABA has recognized more than 100companies throughout the region since it was first launched in 2007. These companies excelled in the categories of: Growth, Employment, Innovation and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In 2015, however, ASEAN-BAC expanded the categories of ABA to include the Priority Integration Sectors (PLS) of ASEAN element, as well as recognizing outstanding young entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs.
For this year, the awards will focus on three main categories:
- The ASEAN 12 Priority Integration Sectors (fisheries, electronic, E-ASEAN/ICT, textiles, logistics, wood-based, rubber, agri-food, healthcare, tourism, automotive, and retail), 2. The Special Awards (Inclusive Business & Friends of ASEAN) and,
- The 2017 SMEs Excellence Award (Young Entrepreneur, Women, and SMEs in the categories of Growth, Corporate Social Responsibility, Employment, and Innovation).
Nominations for the ABA 2017 start on 13 March 2017 until 15 June 2017.

Duterte has appointed representatives of the local governments as well as the youth and private sectors for the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).
