TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Following the Abra-centered 7.3-magnitude earthquake, neighbouring provinces like Kalinga suffered some damage.
The 44 families who were said to have experienced property damage were simultaneously validated and inspected by the National Housing Authority of Region 2 and the Cordillera Administrative Region, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the City Social Welfare and Development Office, and the City Public Information Office.
Thirty-one impacted homes, including hairline cracks, posts, and damaged windows, were listed by barangay New Tanglag. After the earthquake, some other homes allegedly sunk slightly.
Some of the homes have experienced minor damages, as determined by NHA staff, making them eligible for minimal financial help.
If the families qualify for emergency housing assistance after the report is submitted, the NHA regional office will either give funding or increase the amount to reflect the extent of the damages incurred.
NHA MC states that P5,000 in funding will be given to families whose homes are assessed to have up to 20 percent of their structural integrity compromised, P10,000 for homes with more than 20 percent damage but less than 40 , percent P15,000 for homes with 40 percent to 60 percent structural damage, P20,000 for homes with 60 percent to 80 percent damage, and P30,000 for homes that are evaluated to have 80 percent total damage or destruction.
They need to validate house-to-house in order to accurately appraise the families who need assistance. “Baka adda mas grabe gayam ket isu pay ti maawanan isu nga maymayat nga icheck amin ta mai-maximize jay kwarta nga mapan ditoy nga barangay,” an NHA officer said.
