RIZAL, Kalinga – Thirty members of the Liwan East Farmers Association (LEFA) in Rizal, Kalinga, graduated from the one-month Climate Resilient Field School under the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) AMIA Program in a Graduation Ceremony held on December 5, 2024, at the DA-CAR Research Outreach Station in Rizal, Kalinga.
The training, which took place from October 29 to December 5, 2024, provided the farmer-participants with valuable knowledge and skills on swine production, particularly in addressing the challenges of swine production and adopting effective, climate-resilient practices. Experts from the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian and the DA-CAR Regulatory Division served as lecturers, covering essential topics in swine production. Participants were engaged in discussion and hands-on activities.
During the ceremony, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Leonardo D. Damian congratulated the graduates and stressed the value of putting the training lessons into practice. In addition, he urged them to demonstrate what they had learned for others to follow, which he considered a form of “good service.”
Additionally, Dr. Damian emphasized the national government’s efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
“Iti Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Administrative Region, agyaman kami ta nangibaon kayu ti umay mangisuro kadakami ditoy ket adu dagiti naadal mi akas kuma iti panag-aramid iti organic feeds ken panagpakan iti baboy nu agbaliw-baliw ti feeds a kanen da”, expressed Bella C. Bunagan, one of the graduates.
“To the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Administrative Region, thank you very much for providing us trainers where we were able to learn different skills like organic feeds production and proper livestock feeding.”
Municipal Agriculturist Nasser Rey Juan concluded the event by encouraging the LEFA members to continue working towards the improvement of their association and to participate in activities that will help them achieve their objectives. By Michelle Balaan
