TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Kalinga Astrodome was abuzz with activity as thousands of professionals from the City, the Province, and neighboring Apayao province attended the highly anticipated Jobs Fair and Mobile License Renewal event of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). The two-day affair which took place last weekend, was a resounding success, highlighting the commitment of local government units to serve the community effectively.
Loida Saboy, Chief of the City Public Employment Services Office, emphasized that the event was part of the broader celebrations for Civil Service Month. “This initiative aligns with our goal to bring essential services directly to our people,” Saboy said. The Jobs Fair saw participation from numerous agencies and companies aimed at assisting professionals in their job search, whether domestically or abroad.
Several government offices were present to offer their services. The Philippine Statistics Authority was on hand to continue its efforts in the national ID system, addressing the needs of many residents from the provinces who have yet to acquire their national IDs. Additionally, PHILHEALTH provided support to health insurance applicants, ensuring that more individuals could access crucial health coverage.
The Department of Labor and Employment also played a significant role, addressing employment-related issues and assisting individuals with grievances against their employers. This move underscored the event’s comprehensive approach to addressing various aspects of professional and personal development.
One of the key highlights of the event was the mobile renewal of professional licenses. Saboy explained that this initiative, in coordination with the PRC Region 2, significantly reduced the time and financial burdens on professionals. Instead of traveling to Tuguegarao or Isabela provinces for renewal, attendees could process their applications at the venue and receive their renewed licenses on the same day. This streamlined process proved to be a major convenience for many.
Jack Wassig, Team Leader of PRC Region 2, assured attendees that the mobile license renewal service would become a regular feature in Kalinga Province. “We plan to integrate this service into major city and provincial events, such as the Matagoan and Bodong festivals,” Wassig stated. He expressed confidence that with continued coordination with provincial officials, the service would remain accessible and efficient for all.
The event’s success was reflected in the impressive turnout and the number of professional licenses renewed. Records indicate that approximately a thousand professionals from the city, Kalinga, and Apayao successfully renewed their licenses during the two-day event.
Overall, the Jobs Fair and PRC Mobile License Renewal event at Kalinga Astrodome demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing public services and supporting professional development. The initiative not only provided immediate benefits to participants but also set a precedent for future government-led service events in the region. By Jesse Maguiya
