BAGUIO CITY – The 3rd Piraso Cup basketball tilt culminated with Time Out routing the Piraso team in a battle of the top two teams for the championship of the Piraso Basketball Tournament last February 4, 2018 at the Piraso hard court, here
Time out flexed it muscles to register a 95-71 win in the knock-out finals game.
Challenged to beat Piraso for the championship, Time Out started the first quarter action with a 16-6 run and established an early comfortable first quarter lead.
Evenly eager and motivated to win, both opponents scamper for ball possession strategizing their offensive plays to control the boards. Time Out started pulling away as both teams showed their tenacity in the hard court, edging Piraso 29-22, to close the second quarter action.
Both teams went on a scoring frenzy in the third and Piraso stay alive by not having buried deep, taking a slight advantage with a 25-22 third canto score.
Time Out, however, came back with its own shooting spree in the fourth quarter, along with control of the boards, and outscored Piraso, 28-18, to end the game and claiming the crown as champions for the 3rd edition of the Cup.
Time out and Team Piraso’s persistence earned them their finals slots winning their last matches in the semi-final round against the Brothers Club and Team Parapad.
On the other hand, Brothers Club clashed with Parapad in the battle for the bronze. The Brothers Club used its slight advantage on their high percentage field goals to keep them running from the first canto to the end game and edged Parapad with a nine point victory, 73-64, and earn third place.
A simple awarding ceremony was done after the teams gathered for lunch as 3rd Piraso Cup commissioner Ben Jun Pua announces a fourth series of the tournament to be expected in the coming months of 2018.
