BANGUED, Abra A 46-year old punong barangay was injured after he was reportedly mauled by a mayoralty candidate of Tinget town for still unknown reasons inside the Abra Provincial Capitol here around 10:30 am Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Office, identified the victim as Pablo Pariñas Andres, 46, single, OIC Barangay Captain of Pulot, Lagayan, Abrawhile he named the suspect as Crumwel Luna, mayoralty candidate of Tineg town and a native of Lagayan, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim went to the Abra Provincial Capitol to get a certification from the provincial office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and while he was about to leave the building, the suspect suddenly appeared from nowhere and punched him several times on his head with no apparent reasons.
After the incident, Luna immediately fled from the crime scene while the victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.
Luna is now the subject of a manhunt operation to answer for the crime he committed against the punong barangay.
