LUNA, Apayao – The administration, faculty and students of the Apayao State College (ASC) lined up simple but meaningful activities to celebrate the state-run higher education institution’s 17th Charter anniversary on 26 February 2015.
Dr. Nieves A. Dacyon, ASC president, said an in-house trade fair was recently opened to showcase the products of each of the institution’s departments that are focused on the school’s 4-fold program, specifically on instruction, production, research and extension.
The main activities which were lined up for this year’s celebration will all be done on 26 February 2015 at the Luna campus of the school.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Nurturing a Culture of Unity in Diversity, Gearing Towards Relevance and Quality.”
Gov. Elias C. Bulut, Jr. will serve as the guest of honor and speaker during the short program commemorating the 17th Charter anniversary of the ASC which will be preceded by a thanksgiving mass.
According to Dr. Dacyon, students will showcase their mastery of culinary arts during a cookfest which will be held after the program in order to provide guests and attendees a chance to have a glimpse of local culinary talents.
Bulut will also turnover to the ASC administration the chemistry laboratory that was donated by the provincial government in order to improve the quality of education being given to the students enrolled in the institution.
School officials, guests, faculty and students will also witness the blessing of the covered walkway within the campus which was a project of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) for school year 2013-2014.
Further, attendees of the institution’s celebration of the Charter anniversary will also witness the blessing of the canteen extension which was a project of the current school administration.
In order to spice up the day, the public will be given a chance to actively participate in numerous indigenous games and parlor games which were prepared by the school as part of the entertainment portion of the program.
Dacyon expressed her gratitude to the local officials of Apayao for their unrelenting and uncompromising support to her administration and to the school officials, faculty and students for their cooperation in the introduction of changes that would help uplift the status of the school into greater heights.
