BAGUIO CITY – A 27year old night market trader died after she was shot by a bonnet-wearing gunman in front of their residence at Queen of Peace road here Wednesday dawn.
Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo, acting city director of the Baguio city Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as Jalil Amina Tantao, 27, married, a vendor/trader at Harrison Road night market, presently residing at 51 Queen of Peace, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and her husband arrived in their residence on board their vehicle when the latter went inside their house leaving the victim behind.
Based on testimonies of witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident, a bonnet-wearing gunmen suddenly appeared from nowhere and shot the victim at close range before casually fleeing on foot towards Lourdes Subdivision Extension area before boarding his getaway motorcycle driven by a still unidentified male person.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but she expired several hours later while undergoing close medical supervision.
Responding police operatives and elements of the scene of the crime operation team recovered from the crime scene a spent shell of a still undisclosed type of firearm which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
