TABUK CITY, Kalinga September 22 – A 28-year old tricycle driver was injured and now in serious condition after he was fired upon by two still unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men at Balacang St., Magsaysay, here, Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Efraim Danipog Dominguez, 28, married, tricycle driver, resident of Dagupan Weste, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was driving his motorcycle en route to barangay Casigayan when two motorcycle-riding armed men who came from the opposite direction suddenly blocked his way with the back rider firing at him several times for still unknown reasons.
The victim was rushed by concerned residents to a private hospital for medical treatment where he is now confined in serious condition while the suspects fled towards Bulanao.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene seven spent shells of a calibre .45 pistol which was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
The motive of the incident has yet to be established as the suspects are now the subject of a manhunt by the police operatives.
