BONTOC, Mountain Province – The tricycle fare in this capital town has increased effective Mach 25, 2022.
Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey issued Executive Order No.05, s. 2022, providing a provisional increase of tricycle fare in Bontoc, Mountain Province in response to the petition filed by the Bontoc Federation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers (BOFATOD) for a fare adjustment due to the continuous increase in the prices of fuel and spare parts of tricycle units.
Prior to this, the Sangguniang Bayan issued Resolution No. 432, series of 2022, authorizing the mayor to suspend the implementation of existing ordinance/s providing the tricycle fare rate as well as to issue an executive order providing a provisional increase of tricycle fare rate in Bontoc, Mountain Province pending enactment of the appropriate ordinance concerning the matter.
From the P9.00 regular fare, it increased to P13.00 for any tricycle travel covering any distance within the cut-off points.
Students, senior citizens, and Persons with Disability (PWDs) are entitled to a fixed discount fare of P10.00 covering any distance within the cut-off points. However, students are not entitled to discounted fare during Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
A maximum fare of P15.00 shall be charged for any tricycle travel covering the full and complete distance from and to any two cut-off points. Students, senior citizens, and PWDs shall have a discounted fare rate of P12.00 for tricycles covering the full and complete distance from and to any two cut-off points.
On the road towards Mainit, the cut-off point is in Pattig-Peleo Residence; on the road towards Maligcong, the cut-off point is at Am-anani-Falluyan’s Residence and MOPRECO Compound; on the road towards Tocucan, the cut-off point is at Pingew-Tangilag Gasoline Station; on the road towards Talubin, the cut-off point is at Anayah’s Restaurant, Samoki; on the road towards Alab, the cut-off point is at Malabong’s Place at At-ato.
However, the provisional fare rate shall only apply to tricycles –for-hire which have a valid and renewed Municipal Tricycle Operators Permit (MTOP) for the year 2022. Colorum or those tricycle units which have not yet renewed their respective franchise/s shall not have the privilege to collect the said new rate or to operate for-hire.
With this, the tricycle operators are advised to visit the Office of the Municipal Mayor to secure a copy of the new and revised fare matrix to be posted or placed inside the tricycle units in a conspicuous space.
