TUBA, Benguet — Agritourism, the goal of accumulating commerce through tourism and agriculture, has been recently set with a collaboration between DMCI Homes and Tuba Agri Tourism Community (TATC) for the farmers in Tuba last week.
DMCI Homes collaborated with TATC to build an eco-agricultural mountain resort condotel called Moncello Crest in this town to gain commerce from maximizing more than a thousand rooms to accommodate guests while enabling them to also interact with the local farmers and patronize produce grown and goods produced in the municipality.
“Moncello Crest is one of the biggest projects we have up to date which will have more than a thousand rooms upon its completion. Inaasahan naming magdala ng libu-libong bisita rito sa Tuba na naghahanap ng kakaibang gagawin, makikita, makakain, mabibili. Ibig sabihin, hindi na kailangan ng farmers natin dito na mag-compete kasi marami na pong bisita na pupunta’t bibili ng kanilang mga produkto,” DMCI Homes Marketing Vice President Jan Venturanza stated.
Likewise, farmers also feel hopeful for this collaboration.
“Bareng dakkel ti tulong na daytuy agritourism kenyami nga babassit nga farmers ta jay nateng mi, mabalin nga i-ayab mi ijay farm mi. Farm to table — kumbaga diay fresh nga kunada tattay, haan nga diay maluslusaw,” said Mercy Cariño, a farmer from Taloy Norte, Tuba, Benguet.
Simultaneously, DMCI Homes representatives, along with the representatives of the TATC, conducted a morning and afternoon training for the farmers as they progress through agritourism in the future on February 28 at Taloy Sur, Tuba. By Dessa Joi Peralta
