TUBA, Benguet – Students of Tuba received scholarships with the addition of up-to-date training for teachers to maintain quality education, as mandated by the Department of Education.
A total of 300 out-of-school children, youths, and adults successfully mapped across all 13 barangays with a total of 12 Community Learning Centers (CLCs) established in different barangays, as revealed in the first State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) gathered from Department of Education – Alternative Learning System (DepEd-ALS) recently.
Over 5,010 elementary enrollees and 3,253 seventh to twelfth grade enrollees were also recorded who maximize the use of the educational facilities built with the DepEd-provided materials.
Shelly Lois Padosen, Public Employment Service Officer (PESO) designate from the Municipality of Tuba states, “For Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), yearly naman namin ‘tong ini-implement and, as much as possible, yearly namin na ini-increase ang mga beneficiaries nito. And for the scholarship, na-revise rin ang ordinance nito. What’s good about it is na-increase din yung assistance na mabibigay sa ating scholars.”
Padosen also kept track of their Tuba scholars who graduated and were successful in their chosen fields.
One of those was Gwyneth A. Peralta, a Tuba scholar who became a Kindergarten teacher at Camp 6 Elementary School. “Don’t hesitate. The application process may seem challenging, but it’s an opportunity that can transform your life. The scholarship is more than just a financial aid, it’s an investment in your future,” Peralta advised the applicants for the program.
They also distributed the unclaimed educational assistance payout for mixed schools, such as those from the University of Baguio, University of the Cordilleras, Saint Louis University, Benguet State University – Main, and other schools at the Provincial Councilor’s League Building located at Wangal, La Trinidad recently for further educational support.
