TUBLAY, Benguet – Mayor Armando Lauro underscored that the municipal government will focus on the implementation of a comprehensive solid waste management program geared towards addressing the town’s garbage disposal problem, aside from aggressively promoting agri- and eco-tourism that will contribute in efforts to gradually and safely revive the economy that had been heavily impacted by Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Lauro, who was given by his constituents a fresh mandate to serve his third term as the town’s local chief executive, reported that the municipal government will look for a suitable land area that could be used for the setting up of a materials recovery facility (MRF) to address possible garbage disposal woes.
Further, he added that the municipal government is also looking for sources of potable water supply to provide for the water requirements of the growing population to avoid the possible water shortage in the future.
The municipal chief executive stipulated that, in support of economic recovery, the town’s agri and ecotourism destinations will be aggressively promoted to entice tourists to travel to these numerous tourist destinations in the municipality which are at par with similar spots in neighboring localities.
Tublay is one of the municipalities that form the expanded Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT) growth corridor where its agri and ecotourism destination assets form the core of its tourism industry.
According to him, the municipal government will also be working on the completion of the town’s multipurpose market building funded by Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. and Benguet caretaker congressman Eric Yap through the P50 million earmarked for the project under the annual budget of the national government.
Moreover, Mayor Lauro disclosed that Yap also provide some P20 million for the improvement of the town’s rural health unit that will contribute in the ongoing efforts of the concerned government agencies and the municipal government to enhance the delivery of quality health care services to the people in the different barangays.
He expressed his gratitude to his constituents for electing him to serve his third term as the mayor where their trust and confidence will be reciprocated with sincere and dedicated service that will contribute in elevating the status of the municipality to a higher level once he will step down from power after 3 years.
Lauro said that the new set of local officials will surely work hard to continue implementing the various programs, projects and activities sidelined because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to be able to regain the momentum in improvement of the current status of the locality and ensure the improvement of the quality of life of the people with the restoration of the vibrance of the municipal economy.
