BONTOC, Mountain Province – Sangguniang Bayan member and mayoral candidate Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong won after beating four other candidates in the municipality’s top post.
Tudlong got 3,707 votes while his closest rival, third-termer SB member Atty. Alsannyster Patingan obtained 3,682 votes. Second-termer SB member and mayoral candidate Robert Dacyon came in 3rd place after obtaining 3,556 votes, former Sangguniang Bayan Secretary of Bontoc Arthur Culallad got 2,477 votes and Siegh Fred Fatongkeg gained 466 votes.
Unopposed Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen will serve his third term as he obtained 10,500 votes.
For local council, emerging on top is Jupiter Jule Kalangeg with a resounding 5,864 votes; followed by newbie Dan Evert Sokoken with 5,604; Glenn Bacala with 5,485; Timothy Pongad, Jr., with 5,166; incumbent SB member Peter Kedawen with 4,883; come backing Julian Chumacog with 4,873; neophyte Benedict Odsey II with 4,357; and incumbent Viola Okko with 4,200.
Mayor-elect Tudlong expressed his profound gratitude to everyone as he solicits unity among the elective officials, all stakeholders, and the Bontoc community for “Dynamic Bontoc” – a vision that exhibits progress for all and not just for a few.
The newly-elected officials in this capital town were proclaimed by the Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC) on May 10, 2022. The members of the MBOC are the Election Officer of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Atty. Joyce Marie Dango as the Chairperson; Municipal Treasurer Lourdes Austria as the Vice-Chairperson and Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS) Principal Atkinson Tudlong as Member- Secretary.
Out of the 17,135 registered voters in Bontoc, 14, 427 actually voted, or a voter turnout of 84.19 percent.
