CONNER, Apayao – A total of PhP3,701,250 was released to 525 beneficiaries in Conner on April 28 under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
Each beneficiary, mostly parents of senior high school students, received ₱7,050 in wages after rendering 15 days of community work. The payout comes as part of DOLE’s emergency employment thrust to assist vulnerable workers and inject temporary income into households most in need.
Moreover, DOLE-Apayao also turned over ₱1,228,072 in livelihood grants to farmer groups and individuals. The Puguin Mabiga Farmers Association (27 members) received ₱534,492 for agricultural machinery services, while the Kuhuban Farmers Association (58 members) received ₱693,580 for a motor parts repair livelihood project. Two individuals engaged in carpentry also received ₱30,000 each, plus tools and equipment to support their trade.
DOLE-Apayao Provincial Head Jane Adalan said the dual rollout underscores DOLE’s broader mission. “We aim to generate income and employment opportunities for the unemployed and underemployed, while maintaining industrial peace for economic progress in the province,” Adalan stated. By Krizza Castillo
