KABUGAO, Apayao – The Turismo Isulong Mo Party-list assured local officials and concerned stakeholders of better roads leading to various tourist destinations around the country to help in the ongoing efforts of the government to revive the heavily impacted sector.
Former San Juan, Abra Mayor Marco Bautista, who is the second nominee of the turismo Isulong Mo Party-list, pointed out that the primary objective of the convergence project of the tourism department on the tourism roads infrastructure program to allow the accessibility of key tourist spots around the country is a noble one that is why there is a need to enhance the same so that foreign and domestic tourists can freely move around.
The Turismo Isulong Mo Party-list is listed as No. 156 in the list of the party-list groups in the official ballot of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for the upcoming May 9, 2022 synchronized national and local elections.
Bautista is now going around Northern and Central Luzon to campaign for the party-list group that will aggressively work for the advancement of the country’s tourism industry as one of the major economic drivers that will help in the revival of the heavily impacted economy.
The former mayor asserted there are still numerous untapped potential tourist destinations in the country which should be the focus of the implementation of road improvement projects to allow access to foreign and domestic tourists and help spur activities that will employ and make entrepreneurs from the residents.
According to him, the government must maximize the potentials of tourism in generating revenues and creating jobs and economic activities because these are the pillars for rural development with the improvement of roads leading to new tourism sites following the gradual and safe revival of the country’s economy.
Bautista emphasized that by investing in the improvement of roads leading to key tourist destinations around the country, more foreign and domestic tourists will be encouraged to visit these sites that will contribute in providing opportunities for people to be able to earn income from the presence of visitors in their places.
Aside from working on the infrastructure aspect of tourism, the Turismo Isulong Mo party-list will also embark on a comprehensive program that will venture on the aggressive promotion and marketing of the country’s tourism industry to cater to the demand of people for new places to visit and explore.
He admitted that the country’s tourism sector had been one of the heavily impacted sectors during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic over the past 2 years that is why something should be done by the concerned government agencies and the local governments to allow the industry to rebound from the enormous effect of the health crisis, especially in restoring the jobs of displaced tourism workers and bringing back the economic activities of tourism-related establishments.
Former Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo is the party-list groups first nominee while Bautista, who was Teo’s Undersecretary during her term, will serve as the group’s second nominee vying for the available seats in Congress.
